Contemporary artist Olga Caldas reveals herself in a personal and poetic exhibition, to be discovered at the Halle Saint-Pierre from January 15 to March 16, 2025. Black-and-white photographs guide us step by step through the twists and turns of her existence, between reverie and pain, contemplation and struggle.
The exhibition Le jardin aux sentiers qui bifurquent (The Garden of Forking Paths ) plunges us into a dreamlike plant world, where moments intersect and engage in dialogue. The artist recounts his intimate and artistic experiences through different moments, presented anachronistically. In this garden of time, visitors are invited to follow the "paths", without knowing what will be the next work, the next period to emerge from among the plants.
A dancer on a swing, a soothed woman in her ritual bath, a body struggling in its chrysalis... The body and nature are at the heart of these series of photographs: the use of black and white and the poetic, dreamlike subjects give the impression that these scenes are timeless, both ancient and eternal.
Alongside these women, Olga Caldas presents a number of flowers. These images seem to conceal a mystery, and link the different chapters of this exhibition. This flower garden, begun several years ago, has taken the time to grow and sublimate, over the course of the artist's various projects. In 2025, at the Halle Saint-Pierre, Olga Caldas unveils bright, strong flowers, far from the idea of the ephemeral plant usually associated with these plants.
This winter, thecontemporary artist takes us on a stroll through her garden, where the female body and nature take center stage.
