To celebrate the 66th anniversary of the Fifth Republic, a wide range of events will be held throughout the country, focusing on the legal profession and its institutions, and introducing the general public to the workings of this great machine. On the evening of October 3, 2024, take advantage of La Nuit du Droit, a free event open to all, to visit institutions, meet members of parliament, magistrates, lawyers and notaries, and take part in unique activities.
On October 4, 1958, France entered the Fifth Republic with Charles de Gaulle as its first president. That's why, since 2017, this national event has taken place on this day (not this year, due to the calendar), as a reminder that the law protects freedoms and certifies the proper functioning of the country's democratic life. The program for the evening, in Paris and the Île-de-France region, includes an eloquence contest, mock trial, exhibition, film-debate, theater, conference and numerous round tables.
