If you'd like to step back in time and take part in a vintage bal guinguette, head for the Butte-aux-Cailles on Sunday, May 18, 2025, for an afternoon of vintage dancing! The Paris qui Danse company's aim is to bring back to life the old company dances that have largely ceased to be practiced today. It's an opportunity to perpetuate the tradition of balls with demonstrations, on a festive Sunday afternoon, just like in the 19th century.
From 3pm to 7pm, you're invited free of charge to this Belle Epoque-style open-air ball, where you can dance on the dance floor and enjoy the refreshment bar at the top of the Butte, rue des Cinq-Diamants. Formerly located in Gentilly, this venue reflects the tradition of popular cabarets that were set up on the outskirts of the capital to avoid paying taxes. Don't hesitate to mingle with the costumed dancers, trained in the dances of the period, to learn the steps and join in!
Apaches, loulous and bourgeois encanaillés are eagerly awaited, so get your best dance moves ready. It's a great way to spend some quality time with family and friends, for a change from everyday life in Paris!
