It's one of those addresses in Paris that are committed to providing a real experience, both in terms of atmosphere and tasting. It's thanks to these concepts that we can enjoy a rhythm that gives us the impression of living a thousand lives in the heart of the City of Light. If you're a mixology enthusiast, an alchemist's lair awaits you in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, immersing us in a chic, hip and mystical atmosphere that echoes the Paris of the Belle Époque.
In the labyrinthine labyrinth of the Monnaie district, at 23 rue de Mazarine, a dark and mysterious façade serves as a gateway. The curious who cross it discover a hushed, even theatrical universe, with Baroque-style hangings and tapestries that give us the sensation of being in a timeless bubble. So here you are at the Prescription Cocktail Club, a cutting-edge address showcasing top-flight signature creations to the delight of cocktail lovers!
Here, bartenders and barmaids whip out their shakers to unveil a truly mixological experience, savoring beverages that are the fruit of fine technical skills, with a particular focus on textures. Here, it's not a case of trying to pull the wool over our eyes with rather visual cocktails: the recipes have been devised to bring a certain relief to these signature creations, and every detail has been thought out to bring a gustatory dimension that makes sense.
One example is The One, a cocktail made with mandarin vodka, elderflower cordial and tangy verbena, topped with a generous foam of rose and champagne. If the "Instagrammable" aspect is there, this airy mousse isn't there just to look pretty. As you sink your teeth into the cloud, you discover a sweet, gourmet rose, balanced by the tangy notes of champagne. If the taste of this flower tends to be rather divisive, Prescription Cocktail Club has found a way to reconcile many with the flavors of the rose. This generous foam introduces us to the fruity and floral notes found in the rest of the cocktail, which is both gourmand and fresh.
We also love the Naked Gaga and its lively recipe, based on Plymouth gin, Cocchi americano, apéro, citron juice, venus Bourgoin and bitter lemon. A coquettish creation that's sure to please fans of herbaceous, tangy flavors, with a hint of bitterness that makes it a fancy cocktail with a certain character.
If you're one of those adventurous types keen to discover the most surprising recipes, we particularly recommend the Karl, a fine demonstration of Prescription Cocktail Club's technical expertise and meticulousness. An astonishing lemon-ginger mousse, whose large bubbles reveal a slightly gelatinous texture, hugs our lips before we sip this unique creation, a cross between ocho la estancia tequila, lime, spinach cordial and celery bitter. While the recipe is surprising, the resulting flavor is much more accessible than you might expect. It's more of a tangy treat than a grimace-inducing soup.
Finally, the Collection 82 will also have won us over with its composition, which should particularly delight sweet tooths in search of a slightly regressive, comforting creation that takes us back to Christmas morning. The cocktail features O.D.F.T. plantation rum, American Cocchi, lime, sugar syrup, whey, chai and spices, plus red wine. The Collection 82, with its attractive two-color palette, also offers an aesthetic touch that adds to the pleasure of tasting.
Generally speaking, the recipes are precise and balanced, and reveal themselves to be the fruit of meticulous expertise in both composition and execution. To accompany these creations, the prescription cocktail club also offers tapas that play on our pet peeves and are constantly evolving. During our visit, we were able to savor a beet hummus with the sweet notes of the root, accompanied by pita bread, slices of bresaola covered with Parmesan shavings, and a creamy burrata with olive-oil country bread.
