For the past few months, a beautiful double terrace has been enlivening the area aroundHôpital Saint-Louis. And no, we're not talking about Le Carillon here, but a restaurant a little further down the rue Bichat: Loui's Corner!
By the time we arrive, the double-terrace (the restaurant is on the corner, hence its name!) is already packed, and Parisians are toasting the joy of Thursday evening. So we sit down inside, and with the large bay windows completely open, it's as if we're outside, and it's super pleasant.
Loui's Corner offers a rather extensive menu of New York-inspired dishes. Once we've ordered our cocktails, we plunge into reading chef Arnaud Bertrand's menu. Starters: Oeuf Bénédicte (5€), Hot dog (6€), Chicken taco (4€)... We choose not to choose by taking theplate of assortments to share (18€), for two people or one very greedy person. We enjoy super-crispy onion rings, stuffed piquillos, a taco and a ceviche of pollack marinated in orange and lemon.
For the main courses, the choice is more complicated, as Loui's Corner offers salads (15€), burrito bowls (12€), poké bowls (14€), tartars (16€), burgers (14€) and also grilled meats - which we were clearly craving that evening! BBQ pork ribs (15€) for one, Bayou stuffed breast (19€) for the other, we ate well and enjoyed the last rays of sunshine.
A pecan cheesecake (7€) and a generous brioche perdue (8€) round off this fine meal. Loui's Corner 's cuisine is simple but generous, and above all made with local, healthy and ethical products.
Loui's Corner comes to life even more on match nights, when it broadcasts soccer and rugby on big screens, and on two Thursdays a month, when it hosts a musical afterwork with an eclectic program. There's a DJ set, a brass band, a live acoustic set... It all depends on the day!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
