Since its creation in 2022, the Melville has been an intimate jazz club, a place out of time, where jazz and refined cuisine come together to offer a rather novel experience in the capital. This place is the project - or rather, the dream - of Sébastien and Laurent, two friends and jazz fans who have always wanted to go into the restaurant business. "We have a common passion: music. We're music fans," confides Sébastien. So they came up with the idea of a hybrid concept, a place where people could come for a drink while listening to a jazz concert, or gather with friends around a large table for a meal.
In the kitchen, Malcolm Ecolasse, a young chef with a proven track record working with the greats - Juan Arbelaez, Jean-François Piège, etc. - is responsible for the creativity of the dishes. The menu features small plates, with particular attention paid to seasoning. We recommend you try the explosive Black Angus tartlets with a thousand flavors, the Japchouka façon chakchouka (a traditional Mediterranean dish made with sun-drenched vegetables and a poached egg) or the delicious merguez-raspberry-Ossau-Iraty marriage proposed by the chef. The flavors are surprising and the seasonings highly refined, and you can expect to pay between €11 and €22 per plate. If you've got any room left, don't miss out on the gourmet desserts, such as the chocolate bar with soft caramel, roasted cashews and cocoa powder, or the caramel peanut millefeuille, the perfect end to a meal.
As for cocktails, they are classified by alcohol on the menu: you can opt for the bar's signature cocktails, such as the Melville, which mixes vodka and Noilly-Prat, or the Hungry Mexican, with Mezcal (an artisanal Mexican tequila), ginger beer and lime. Expect to pay €17 for one of these particularly sophisticated cocktails.
On site, you can sit close to the concert, not far from the bar, to enjoy the music to the full. Or choose the more intimate mezzanine for a quiet chat (always with a jazz backdrop). Every evening, a different group performs at the Melville : all week long, it's jazz, except on Saturdays, when the Melville organizes a weekly Latino evening, or on Thursdays, when world music - flamenco, Andalusian Arabic singing... - are given pride of place. A very fine address in the 8th arrondissement, which we recommend you discover, for its unique musical ambience and delicious menu.
