Notice to lovers of Chinese cuisine and particularly of steamed ravioli, we have found a small temple of dim sum. Do you like steamed ravioli? Not the ones you find in the average Chinese caterer who has been waiting all day, no, the ones that are homemade, fresh and ideally cooked with delicious fillings, of course. Let's go to the Marais and specifically to 20 rue Grenier Saint-Lazare in the 3rd district to discover the brand new Dimdimsum Paris, little brother of the restaurant Chez Haki, just a step away.
Upon arrival, in the front, we discover the queen of Chinese ravioli who is busy making dim sum and other bao in front of our (amazed) eyes. The room is revealed all in length with some tables in front of the counter, tables in terrace and the biggest in bottom of room. There are about 40 places for this popular and trendy restaurant, which reveals a nice home-made decoration based on steaming baskets.
In the basement, it is two karaoke rooms which opens to the amateur or professional singers that we are (and even to the pans): a small one adapted for 2 to 6 people and a larger one which can go up to 20 people while keeping warm. If a menu is proposed on the spot, the nice idea is to order a range of raviolis to share with friends or family.
On the menu, we discover a whole range of Baozi from the veggie to the classic, including the truffle and cheese version. On the ravioli side, xialongbao are also available in veggie, pork, truffle and shrimp, we also discover the good siu mai and the flowery hargow with shrimps. Everything is cooked to order and you can enjoy the freshness of the dishes accompanied by nice cocktails like the lychee one or hot tea for those who are cold.
The curious will be tempted by the Ji Dan Geng, a traditional and popular dish based on steamed egg custard, which cannot be found anywhere else. We also recommend the gourmet Lotus Rice which offers a delicious glutinous rice with chicken and pork, shrimps or glazed pork, cooked in a lotus leaf, a delight.
On the baos side, you can also discover sweet versions with cream, taro or durian for the adventurous. Pandan steamed cake, coconut pearl and yuzu chocolate fondant are also waiting for you as a dessert to end your meal.
At Dimdimsum, the idea is to order several dishes to be put in the center of the table and to be shared in joy and greed. As for the prices, count between 4€ and 6€ for the starters, 7€ to 8,50€ for the baos served by 2 and 7€ to 9€ for the steamed raviolis served by 4.
So, shall we have a good ravioli restaurant in song?
