Atelier P1, a famous artisan bakery in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, had the idea of opening a restaurant based on its products, from breakfast to afternoon tea, for healthy, gourmet meals. To get there, you don't have to go far, as P1 Bouche is on the same sidewalk, just a few meters away! It's the perfect place to enjoy a local bakery before picking up a week's supply of bread after dessert. You can sit out in the sun on the terrace or in the warm, leafy dining room, with a direct view of the kitchen, to watch your dishes come out of the ovens live!
Conceived by Atelier P1 founders Julien Cantenot and Yasmine Djaballah, the place is a larger extension of the bakery, with home-cooked dishes and seating for an even greater variety of flavors. Come in the morning for a full breakfast, with homemade bread, granola, pastries and even eggs, or enjoy sweet or savory tarts and tartines at lunchtime, available in vegan option, with quality ingredients, as local as possible.
While we warmly recommend the pain au chocolat praliné, the delicious babka or the fruit monocle for a snack or breakfast, we went to try out the lunch, a few days after the restaurant opened in early July. In a sunny, colorful atmosphere, we opted for a tartine de P1 (we never tire of these puns), with tomato and parma ham.
The saltiness of the ham is counterbalanced by the sweetness of the tomato compote, for a pleasant trip to Italy. You can also opt for smoked trout or a version sweetened with maple syrup. The tartine is accompanied by roasted potatoes with smoked paprika, perfectly moist and spicy.
Depending on your diet or your curiosity, an omnivorous or vegan dish awaits you, as well as a tart with fresh vegetables of the day and its salad, which we succumbed to. Well-stuffed, it offers a bevy of flavors, from melt-in-your-mouth vegetables and roasted peppers to a crispy pastry that feels homemade. More of an egg fan? You'll find them scrambled with fresh herbs, fried or soft-boiled, as you prefer. Serve with a refreshing lemonade, iced coffee, fine wine or local beer!
For dessert, enjoy an apricot pistachio, lemon or red fruit tart, a coconut flan or a cookie of the day, either on site or in the bakery just around the corner, depending on what's on offer that day. Good to know, a vegan tiramisu has just arrived for dessert, a good reason to return to try this address several times, which intends to renew itself regularly, to our great delight!
