On theLeft Bank, Paris's 14th arrondissement abounds in neighborhood nuggets that delight Parisians of all ages. And now, a new gourmet haunt has been added to our list of local favorites. Just imagine: a globe-trotting menu, gourmet cocktails, good value for money and a young, hip vibe that makes you feel like you're among friends.
This is what awaits you at Binchotan, a restaurant with a warm spirit, whose setting takes us into a universe halfway between the typical Parisian café-brasserie and the pop-urban spirit. The name is a foretaste of what awaits us: here, the speciality is cooking with Binchotan, a vegetable charcoal of ancestral design that enables healthy cooking without flames, and also purifies the water. Here, you'll enjoy fine Japanese barbecued products, sublimated through stylish and inventive plates, inspired by flavors from the four corners of the world and offered at a good value for money.
Dishes range from €6 to €14, so you can treat yourself to a fine assortment to share. To start the trip, we'll get in the mood with a Plantation Sour, a cocktail made with plantation xo rum, homemade pineapple syrup and lemon, served with a piece of caramelized pineapple, a real sweetness in its beverage state that should delight sweet tooths who love exotic fruits. Accompanied by comforting pommes dauphines, we'll forget all about the rainy weather outside.
We'll then be tempted by an assortment of Japanese barbecue dishes. We love the deliciously crunchy burnt leek with its peppy Szechuan vinaigrette and black sesame, whose roasted notes enhance the smoky flavours of the Binchotan.
And don't miss the red tuna tataki, whose petal-thin slices literally melt in your mouth. Pickles and mustard seeds accentuate the natural goodness of the fish, whose quality and freshness speak for themselves. Finally, for meat lovers, the juicy Argentinian Angus beef onglet is sure to win your heart, with the added bonus of paprika chips and a chimichurri sauce that will delight your taste buds.
For dessert, the Binchotan is a must, with a roasted pineapple, cooked to a caramelized texture, accompanied by a lightly sweetened coconut cream, perfect for breaking up the acidity of the sugar, enhanced by lime zest. Slivers of palet breton add that touch of regressiveness that we love to find in moments of sweetness.
All in all, Binchotan is a good place to stop for palates with a taste for exotic twists, as well as for the undecided in search of a restaurant with a formula that lets you try a little of everything, while sharing a convivial moment in a cool atmosphere!
