Jjin Korean Barbecue in Paris is the latest offering from the restaurateur behind Sweetea's 13e and Poissonnière, two Korean restaurants already delighting Parisians in search of authenticity. Faithful to its success, this new restaurant offers the essentials of Korean cuisine, with the added bonus of an exceptional choice of meats, found nowhere else in Paris.
The space is vast and spacious. A large bar stands in the center, and tables circle around it in a modern, urban decor.
In true Korean style, we order several dishes and share them with our table of good eaters. Our choice is the crispy sweet and spicy fried chicken, the mozzarella version of the kimchi galette for fans, therosé tteokbokki (rice cake with cream sauce and chilli, fish paste, egg and extra mozzarella) and thespicy silken tofu stew andbibimbap yukhoe with Korean beef tartar. So, let's face it, there were 4 of us, we were very hungry and we didn't finish everything (thank goodness for the doggy bag for tomorrow's pleasure).
Especially as we couldn't pass up the Korean barbecue. At Jjin, each table has its own central barbecue and hood above. All barbecues are accompanied by a bowl of rice, seasonal vegetables and banchan. The corn cheese and omelette surrounding the barbecue cost an extra €5.
You'll find classics like Bulgogi, entrecôte and Wagyu ribeye. Then there's the exceptional or out-of-the-ordinary JJIN Gabi, a thin slice of surprise rib steak on its marinated bone, the Brisket and its thin slices of marbled, tender and juicy prestige beef brisket, or the Blade (depending on availability), a half slice of prestige rib steak on its bone. Don't know what to choose? Opt for our grilled beef or pork for two. Halal options are available on request.
At lunchtime, a starter + main course menu at €16.50 awaits you. You can even opt for the barbecue menu at the same price. In the evening, the restaurant also offers an original cocktail menu with exotic flavors. Creations include lychee, matcha, shiso and even spicy kimchi for the adventurous. Try our original strawberry or raspberry homemade lemonade.
Desserts include iced mochi, as well as generous profiteroles with matcha ice cream, white chocolate and matcha sauce, which we recommend you share.
In short, if you're looking for a spacious restaurant to welcome family and friends, if you're craving exoticism, runny cheese or good quality grilled meats, this is an address to remember.
