Organic, tasty and gourmet - this is often the trinity of neighborhood nuggets that local gourmets become regulars of. When you're looking for a sure thing, you often have a favourite address in mind, almost like a second home to which you head at the first opportunity, like a remedy for indecision. You go there with your eyes closed, and if the food changes, the bond of trust ensures that you'll come away happy.
In the 14th arrondissement of Paris, this restaurant has taken on the mission of being one of those HQs that we almost regret not jealously guarding its secret. Just a stone's throw from theHôpital Cochin, this bright contemporary bistro's cameo of greens sets the tone. Capsule is the restaurant we've fallen in love with, inviting us to discover market cuisine at the right price, using mostly organic and locavore produce. The menu evolves with the seasons and the inspiration of chef Mickaël Falotte, who has come straight from Michelin-starred kitchens and combines technical skill with creativity.
The result is a mouth-watering array of mouth-watering titles behind which you'll find beautiful, meticulously-dressed plates that will make for adelightful dining experience. From the outset, the menu of the day caught our eye. For starters, the fish croquette awakens our appetite with its crunchy-melting texture and gibrich sauce, whose mustard accents and controlled strength testify to the savoir-faire of the kitchen. For egg aficionados, there's also the Capsule recipe, an elegant soft-boiled egg served with a creamy celery and truffle oil sauce, croutons, hazelnuts and sesame seeds - in short, a dish that smells of autumn.
The suggestion of the day continues with a dish of grilled scallops with a silky, melt-in-the-mouth texture whose flavors are enhanced by a parsnip mousseline and accompanied by black sesame cauliflower heads whose roasted accents reinforce the comforting side of this plate, proving that exceptional dishes can be compatible with generosity. We also appreciate the diversity of the dishes on offer, from creative recipes to reinterpreted classics, with the added bonus of a fine selection of natural wines to accompany meals for oenophiles.
To take full advantage of the Capsule restaurant, however, we strongly recommend that you go for the less conventional plates, which are more indicative of the chef's meticulous expertise. And be careful not to bite off more than you can chew, especially on the particularly gourmet Caesar salad. And if you manage to reserve a place for dessert, there's a must-try pastry for sweet tooths: the nutty Paris-Brest, which will allow even the most demanding gourmets to end this tasting experience on a sweet note.
