To avoid ending up soaked as soup in an unexpected downpour, a back-up plan is sometimes necessary. If the weather turns threatening, lunch in one of Paris's covered passageways can be a good solution. Sheltered from the vagaries of the weather and prying eyes, the restaurants of the covered passages often even have a pretty terrace, so you can have lunch half outside, half inside.
And what could be more chic than a covered passage in Paris? Most of them are bathed in natural light thanks to their magnificent glass roofs, and some have pretty black and white flagstones on the floor, taking us back to the Paris of yesteryear. These include the famous Passage des Panoramas, a stone's throw from the Grands Boulevards, as well as the chic Passage Verdeau and the more intimate Passage du Grand Cerf.
