there are some good deals that we'd like to keep to ourselves, but then we remember that we've made it our mission to help you discover Paris through its best addresses, so here's a great deal, as much for your wallet as for your taste buds.
Tucked away in the discreet Passage Vendôme , which begins at Place de la République, Loov is a tiny - we're weighing our words here - but oh-so-friendly canteen. It's run by Yasmina Mazouzi, who welcomes gourmets as if they were at home, with specialities featuring sweet Mediterranean flavours.
You only have to look at the constant stream of neighbors and regulars, who come to eat in or pick up their takeaway orders, to understand that Yasmina's cuisine is loved for what it is: simple and affordable, made with fresh, seasonal produce, but above all, with a lot oflove. The menu changes weekly, and the weekly menu available on the restaurant's website lets you discover in advance the unique dishes for the coming days.
Tajine de boulettes, chicken ojja... traditional Tunisian, Moroccan and Algerian dishes are featured, with always a vegetarian alternative for those concerned, amateurs or the curious. But the best deal is undoubtedly the homemade couscous, which is on the menu every Thursday and Friday.
Prepared with the same base of seeds in olive oil and seasonal vegetables cooked in broth, Loov 's couscous is available with a variety of meats: ultra-tender lamb neck (13€), chicken with honey and sweet spices (12€), merguez (12€), beef meatballs with herbs (12€); topped, of course, with harissa and excellent raisins and apricots preserved in honey and orange blossom.
What's more, although the owner serves her plates generously, it's even possible to take a dose of seeds and vegetables at your discretion. Frankly, who can beat that?
