Brach is a successful challenge for Evok Hotel, the founders of the Nolinski hotel and the Restaurant du Palais Royal. More than an average luxury hotel in Paris, Brach is now the place to be in Paris 16th arrondissement with its beautiful restaurant and its gym.
Who would have thought about turning a former PTT – Post, telegraphs and telephones – building (a former mail sorting premise) into THE latest hot spot in Paris 16th arrondissement, like a big breath of fresh air in a neighborhood lacking some meeting places? It’s bold especially when we know it took 4 years to create it and it deserves some applauds so much the place has changed!
And the success of Brach is here. From morning to evening, Brach is full of life: businessmen meeting for breakfast or lunch, Parisian ladies seating down for a pastry, friends having a drink after work without talking about the locals who adopted the gym.
The atmosphere is warm with its décor mixing velvet armchairs, woodworks and marble in a boudoir spirit about to become timeless. Thank you, Philippe Starck!
Moving on to the menu, chef Adam Bentalha offers a Mediterranean-inspired menu that is friendly, warm and delicious.
As a starter, we advise you to share hummus or delicious tapenade served in a mortar (€7), along with fresh goat’s cheese by Monsieur Fabre (€11). The whole put at the center of the table enabling a wonderful experience and leaving some time to the cooks to prepare the main courses!
More “classic” but still as delicious starters, the baba ganoush, an eggplant caviar worked with mozzarella di buffalo, the whole nicely plated in an eggplant (yummy!) or the knife-cut beef tartare Lebanese style, just super smooth and flavorful!
We advise you the cod fillet cooked en papillote, skillfully seasoned or the confit suckling lamb’s shoulder (€68 for two eaters)! To enhance the dishes, Adam Bentalha bets on 4 recipes to choose or mix: zereskh polo, quinoa like a couscous with chickpeas and grapes, mashed sweet potatoes with chestnuts and young sprouts mesclun.
Dishes make us smile; in the winter, tapenade and tasty burrata and here we go again (it’s the miracle of the Mediterranean diet). Please note that at Brach, the service is slow but smooth, to let discussions happen: don’t come it you want to eat in 45 minutes, you may ruin a moment of relaxation in a timeless area…
Yes, the restaurant never empties before 3 p.m. and a new wave comes to work on the spot around a pastry and a coffee. We must say that Yann Brys’s pastries displayed on the large counter are tantalizing.
It’s a yes for us and we love seeing kids coming close to the counter to pick their treats up.
Walk the doors of Brach, you’ll be delighted!
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
