Ideally located on Place de la Madeleine, the Grand Café Fauchon is the ideal place to relax for a meal, a tea-time, a Glam'Hours aperitif or, very soon, a brunch.
Indeed, after a shopping spree at Printemps or a stroll through the Tuileries Gardens, we're off to relax and treat our taste buds to dishes by Chef Frederic Claudel and pastries by François Daubinet.
On the plate, it's all about French products. The focus is on regional and seasonal produce. Le Grand Café Fauchon offers a cuisine that is both good and tasty, a true upscale bistro cuisine in search of stars in the eyes.
On the decor side, the Fauchon color codes are evident. Pink and black are the order of the day. A large, dapper central bar, velvet seating and beautiful lighting create a glamorous ensemble.
The café also unveils a Summer Garden, which is used for the hotel's breakfast, but where you can now also enjoy lunch in front of a beautiful historic fountain.
French salmon, smoked salmon, risotto, razor clams, octopus carpaccio and cloud of shellfish, frogs' legs, venerated rice, horseradish foam, as well as the best hams from here and elsewhere: Breton, Sardinian, Corsican..., are just some of the dishes on offer here.
On our visit, we discovered theOeuf Mollet bio (organic soft-boiled egg ) served on a pan of cep mushrooms with herbs and toasted bread foam, accompanied by a Riso de Couteaux and octopus carpassio with shellfish foam. A runny-hearted egg, well-seasoned porcini mushrooms and a risotto cooked just right with the taste of the sea, a real treat.
We continued with Champagne-roasted scallops, accompanied by pumpkin and chestnut. Well-seared nuts with the added crunch of buckwheat to enhance the dish, we love it.
And, of course, we finish with one of our in-house pastries. Paris-Brest, éclair au chocolat, mille-feuille marron-cassis, Carrémenchoc, tarte de saison or Bisou-bisou, the choice is endless.
Let's go for the Mille-feuille (light and crispy) and the iconic Bisou-bisou with its amazing flavors, yum! We finish off with a small macaron and a glass of champagne - we're over the moon!
Why not take a break for a meal or a tea-time?
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
