From time to time, some of the farms in the Paris region offer children the chance to learn how to cook or produce the ingredients they consume on a daily basis. From butter turned directly in the churn to homemade bread and apple juice, these workshops are designed to help children discover how the food on their plates is made!
September is apple season, with many varieties of Golden, Chantecler, Gala and other green, yellow and red apples. So, at the Ferme de Viltain in Jouy-en-Josas, we're taking the opportunity to offer children the chance to take part in an apple juice workshop on Wednesdays September 13 and 20 (9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 6pm). On the program, kids can discover how to press apples the old-fashioned way, in a traditional wooden press, to harvest freshly squeezed apple juice!
After or before the workshop, take the opportunity to stock up on pick-your-own apples, with a dozen varieties (Reine des Reinettes, Belle de Boskoop, Reinette du Canada, Melrose...) grown on site, and take a little tour of the Ferme de Viltain, where numerous animals await you!
