Line J of the Transilien network, introduced in 2004, serves 52 stops on a 256 km route. It begins its journey at Gare Saint-Lazare, in the 8th arrondissement, an area close to such must-see attractions as the department stores of Boulevard Haussmann and the Opéra Garnier. It then extends to the north-west of the Île-de-France region. Line J serves towns mainly in the Val-d'Oise and Yvelines departments, including Argenteuil, Conflans-Sainte-Honorine and Mantes-la-Jolie.

Thanks to this line, travelers can access such Parisian heritage gems as the château de Maisons-Laffitte, the château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, home to the national archaeology museum, theAbbaye de Maubuisson and the astonishing Musée du Jouet in Poissy. Transilien's line J also goes beyond the borders of theIle-de-France region, taking passengers to the Oise and Eure regions at the gateway to Normandy, including the town of Giverny, home of Claude Monet. Line J also has several connections with the RATP and SNCF networks. It can be reached from metro lines 3, 9, 12, 13 and 14, as well as RER lines A, C, E and transilienne lines H, L and N.
