Bad news for users of line 14 of the Paris metro. While the famous purple line inaugurated its extension to the north and south on June 24, RATP has announced new modernization work starting on Monday, September 9, 2024 and running until December 19 inclusive. Find out more about the schedule for these works, currently scheduled to run until the end of 2024.

Line 14 users thought they were rid of the problem, but that's not the case. Extended to the north and then to the south on June 24, line 14 will once again be disrupted by construction work. In a press release published on August 19, RATP announced that " modernization work on line 14 will resume in September 2024 ".

" The complete modernization of line 14 and its control system still requires work and testing," says the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens, adding that this work should enable " additional functionalities of the new system to be tested in real-life conditions to make it even more efficient ".

Since these tests must be carried out " outside passenger traffic ", RATP has no choice but to close line 14 entirely for several evenings and on certain Sundays and public holidays, " until 2025 ", it says.
