Pastry was given pride of place this past Thursday November 24, 2022, in Paris 4th arrondissement. The headquarters of the Syndicat des boulangers-pâtissiers du Grand Paris welcomed the second edition of the Grand Prix de la pâtisserie de la Ville de Paris.
The 12 artisans-pâtissiers of the city competing in this indulging contest were invited to present their creation themed on “Les Jardins parisiens” [Parisian gardens]. So, each pastry was to be made with at least one ingredient grown in Paris.
To decide between all the competing creations, Ville de Paris gathered a prestigious jury panel. Co-presided by Olivia Polski – Paris deputy mayor for trade, crafts, professional activities, art and fashion trades – and major pastry chef and chocolate-maker Pierre Hermé, the jury also included Quentin Lechat – winner of the first edition of the Grand Prix de la patisserie – as well as pastry chef Claire Damon and pastry chef Nicolas Paciello, without forgetting randomly selected Parisians.
After deliberation and tasting the 12 indulging creations running for the Grand Prix de la Pâtisserie de la Ville de Paris, Maison Lucas Carton (75008) pastry chef Jordan Talbot wins the title. He managed to stand out with his creation called "Sillage automnal" based on Hukambi milk chocolate, kalamansi and Marigold tagetes.
Café Michalak patissier Hugo Spiesser-Ferrette is second. And Louise Riot – from Molitor hotel-restaurant – wins third.
Therefore, Jordan Talbot wins the title of the Grand Prix de la patisserie de Paris 2023, as well as €4,000.
This Wednesday November 30, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo gave the five best pâtissiers of the contest their awards, during a ceremony held in the formal lounges of the City Hall.
For the record, for the latest edition held in 2019, pastry chef Quentin Lechat won with his original individual pastry titled “Noisette”.
