There are many redevelopment projects in Paris. As luck would have it, all of them are scheduled to be completed by spring 2024. The objective is clear, the Paris City Hall wants to change the face of the city before hosting the Olympic Games in the summer. This time, it is the famous Place Pigalle that is concerned, as revealed in an article in the Journal du Dimanche. Located on the edge of the 9th and 18th arrondissements, it has been somewhat abandoned by the public authorities, hence a desire to give it a new lease on life.
To this end, the City of Paris is collaborating with the 9th arrondissement city hall. The work will be carried out in three stages, starting with the restoration of the fountain and its lampposts. Then, a large part of the square will be pedestrianized, reducing the space reserved for vehicles. Finally, the greening of the area, with the installation of shrubs and flowers on a 400 square meter green space. Scheduled to begin in April, the work should be completed in March 2024. Total cost of the facelift: 881,000 euros.
This project is a new step in the rehabilitation of Paris, launched by Anne Hidalgo, after the Champs-Elysées and the surroundings of the Eiffel Tower. What all these projects have in common is that they leave more room for pedestrians, limit road traffic and offer more green spaces.
