Social tensions are at their height at Disneyland Paris! Following a call from the CGT Disneyland union, employees are once again invited to strike or walk out this Monday, June 19, 2023. The famous destination could be in for another dark day as the union steps up its fight for better working conditions.
As explained to us by our BFMTV colleagues for the May 30 strike (the demands have not changed), the CGT is demanding a 200 euro net increase per month for employees, a doubling of wages for Sundays worked, an increase in mileage allowances and an end to flexitime. This timetable system, introduced in September 2020, has, according to information reported by 20 minutes, led to an increase in the pace of work and impacted the quantity of staff available.
In previous weeks, more than 500 employees from various sectors - security, hotels, catering, shows and attractions - had already responded to the call to mobilize for pay rises and improved working conditions. Following the protests, Disneyland Paris management met with the unions at a meeting that failed to ease tensions. The proposal of a 125-euro net bonus and the monetization of vacation days, deemed insufficient by the employees, failed to meet their demands.
Management also proposed the possibility of monthlyizing the second part of the 13th month, but this offer was described by employees as"window dressing". They are hoping for a bigger mobilization this Tuesday. The next mobilization will take place on June 6, so if you had planned to go there, you are invited to postpone your stay if possible.
