Between 2023 and 2024, France hosts two major international sporting events: the Rugby World Cup and the Paris Olympic Games. These events are likely to be punctuated by a large number of transport strikes, disrupting the travel of tourists who have come for the occasion. The RATP, through its second largest union, Force ouvrière, announced this week that it would be calling a strike for the entire period of the rugby competition, from September 8 to October 28, 2023.
According to Jean Castex, now head of the entity, this is not the only strike notice. This one concerns sales counter and station staff, who will be the first to welcome the influx of passengers. It comes as RATP signed its partnership agreement with the event's organizing committee on Saturday , with a memorandum of understanding to be signed by the unions. Nothing to worry the former politician, who values "a strong experience in the field", not unlike the Six Nations Tournament in terms of capacity.
Service to the Stade de France will also be reinforced, in view of the number of matches that the Dionysian stadium will host, notably the opening match and the final. The Concorde metro station will also receive special attention, as it will host the rugby village, the official fan zone for the event.
