A further increase in the price of the Navigo pass, the extension of several metro, RER and tramway lines, new Noctilien lines and the arrival of the Grand Paris Express... Find out what's in store for the new year 2024 in Paris and the Ile-de-France region.

Like every new year, 2024 promises to be full of changes and innovations for public transport in Paris and the Ile-de-France region. While some of the news, such as the new increase in the Navigo pass fare, is not to the delight of users, others are more cause for celebration, notably the extensions of metro line 11, RER line E and line 14 with the arrival of the Grand Paris Express. Here's an overview of what's in store for Paris and the Île-de-France region in 2024!

We start with the new increase in the Navigo pass fare. While the cost of the Navigo pass had not risen since 2017, with a fare of €75.20 (all zones), it climbed by around ten euros in 2023 to reach €84.10. The rate will now rise again, this time by 2.6%, to 86.40 euros per month in 2024. " An increase that will remain under control for the next eight years at the price of inflation + 1% maximum, thanks to the agreement signed between Île-de-France Mobilités and the State ", states IDFM (Île-de-France Mobilités) in a press release. This new increase is intended in particular to enable " the operation and maintenance of lines and vehicles, the modernization of lines, passenger safety and the implementation of various station services ".
