What should you do if you experience travel discomfort on public transport? How do you react to harassment on the Paris metro? What gestures can save a life? As the Olympic Games approach and the RATP network prepares to cope with heavy crowds, a prevention and training day is being organized this Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Auber station, on the RER A side, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The general public is then invited to attend training sessions focusing on the correct safety gestures to adopt on public transport, as well as life-saving gestures. Six workshops are on offer, including how to perform cardiac massage, use a defibrillator and learn when and how to use the alarm and call points located on platforms and in trains. Youngsters can also learn how to get around the network safely using the public transport permit system. The aim is also to promote prevention "by identifying risky behavior and testing good safety reflexes in a fun way!
The fight against sexual harassment is also highlighted through Stand Up training (an international program launched by L'Oréal Paris, the NGO Right to Be and the Fondation des Femmes en France), which aims to raise awareness and train travelers so that they know how to "intervene safely when a victim or witness of sexual harassment in public places" .
