For the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Olympic cauldron soars into the sky aboard its hot-air balloon at dusk. An opportunity for Parisians of all ages to admire it from a variety of vantage points. Here are some ideas for night-time spots to see the flame levitating above the capital.

After the opening ceremony, which took place outside a stadium for the first time, with the floods of the Seine welcoming the foreign delegations, the general public was able to discover the spectacular Olympic cauldron, which rises into the air from the Tuileries Gardens at dusk until 2am.

To admire it up close, you'll have to walk along therue de Rivoli, which borders this iconic garden! The Olympic cauldron is located opposite Place de la Concorde, on the Musée du Louvre side. From the vicinity of the Joan of Arc statue, you should be able to get a good view of this levitating cauldron. Nearby, at theArc du Carrousel, which forms the transition between the Musée du Louvre and the Jardin des Tuileries, there's also a fine view of the flame and its hot-air balloon.

A little further on, the Olympic cauldron can also be seen from the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, by turning towards the Place de la Concorde, opposite the Arc de Triomphe. A fine view also awaits you from the Pont de l'Alma. If you walk up the rue du 29 juillet from the place du Marché Saint-Honoré, you should also be able to see the hot-air balloon levitating!

It's also possible to admire it from above! There are several rooftops and viewpoints in the capital where you can see the balloon. From the top of the Butte Montmartre, at the foot of the Sacré Coeur, it should be possible to see the hot-air balloon imagined by Mathieu Lehanneur, as well as from theObservatoire de la Tour Montparnasse or the Eiffel Tower. The Centre Pompidou should also offer a view of the Montgolfière, notably from the rooftop restaurant George. Please note that the restaurant is closed from August 9 to 11 inclusive.
