This Monday, July 29, 2024, French cyclist Victor Koretzky took second place on the podium in the men's mountain bike cross-country event on the hill at Elancourt (78).

Following on from Pauline Ferrand Prevot, who took first place on the women's podium this Sunday, July 28, 2024, a second French athlete has made it onto the coveted Paris 2024 Olympic Games podium, in the mountain bike cross-country discipline.

Victor Koretzky 's record of achievements was already well-filled: he became French cross-country champion in 2019 and three times world champion in the team relay (between 2011, 2015 and 2016). All that was missing for Koretzky was an Olympic title, following his 10th and 5th place finishes at the Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2021 Games respectively. This has now been achieved for the Bitterrois, after an eventful race on the Elancourt hill between him and Britain's Tom Piddock, already Olympic champion in 2021, who once again took the lead.

World number one, the Frenchman was already announced as the favorite before the Games began. France's medal t ally continues to grow, with this 5th silver medal and 10th medal overall since the start of the competition.
