Les Bleus put stars in our eyes all day on July 29. In all, at the time of writing, the French delegation had brought home 6 new medals in a single day: a gold medal in canoeing, three silvers in mountain biking, archery and judo, and a bronze medal in judo too. And the day is far from over, as the 100% French women's sabre final is sure to add a further 2 medals to the French medal tally!
Another highlight of the sunny day was the team eventing competition at the Château de Versailles, which saw the French team crowned with a magnificent silver medal. Nicolas Touzaint, Stéphane Landois and Karim Laghouag took second place, beating the British team to the gold medal.
After good performances in dressage on Saturday and cross-country on Sunday, the French perfected their lead in show-jumping today, staying ahead of the Japanese team, who walked away with the bronze medal. A magnificent performance for our French riders, who are medal regulars: Karim Laghouag won gold in Rio, as did Nicolas Touzaint in Athens.
