If you've ever visited Paris and discovered Montmartre, you'll be familiar with the terrible steps that take you to the top of the Butte Montmartre, in front of the marvellous Sacré-Coeur. Many of us take the funicular to avoid climbing the 222 steps of the adjacent staircase, but there are always brave walkers who attempt the ascent on foot, or even on foot! This time, it's your turn, and it's for a good cause, in aid of children with heart defects, on May 23, 2024 from 4pm!
For the fourth year running, hotel brand HappyCulture is organizing a race that's a little surprising, since it's vertical! The aim is to climb all the steps in under 30 seconds! With each ascent, the brand will donate 100 euros to Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, to finance heart surgery for several sick children. By 2023, nearly 70,000 euros had been raised thanks to this race, and 5 children operated on. And on Instagram, for every like of the post dedicated to the operation on race day, 1 euro is also donated!
Olympic athletes, sportsmen and women, Koh-Lanta adventurers and other personalities will be on hand to help you make the climb. The record to beat is French sprinter Jimmy Vicaut's 32 seconds! Meet at the foot of the funicular, of course, for 36m of ascent! Can you beat him, who climbs the hill in under 1 minute 30?
