France kicked off their World Cup with two victories, first against the All Blacks in the opening match, and then against Uruguay last Thursday. Although the latter was less impressive than the former, the fact remains that our French players are racking up the points and remain top of their group, ahead of Italy, who are the two teams well-placed to reach the quarter-finals. However, let's not get carried away too quickly: there's still one match left against Namibia and Italy! Next up, this Thursday, September 21, 2023!
On paper, the match against New Zealand was the most complicated for the French to win, but Uruguay proved more threatening than expected and temporarily held out against the French, causing them to lose the attacking bonus, which could prove decisive at the end of the group phase. This time, it's Marseille and the Stade Vélodrome for the match, scheduled for 9pm, this time on France 2 instead of TF1.
France and Namibia have already played each other several times in the World Cup, with Les Bleus winning in 1999 and 2007. Before us, they face New Zealand, after losing to Italy. A victory is more than welcome to ensure top spot in the group, and to look ahead to the next stage of the competition, back at the mythical Saint-Denis stadium!
