Prepare your seatbelts, takeoff imminent! Head for space, the galaxy, the stars... from Space Cycle, the new 400m² cycling studio (or rather, spaceship) in the Strasbourg Saint-Denis district.
What's on the program? Forty-five minutes of indoor cycling - or, for those unfamiliar with the terms of this sporting discipline, cycling indoors, with music blasting - in full immersion in space and in the dark. Yes, pedaling is great, but feeling free and uninhibited in the dark is even better.
At the controls of the spaceship, one of Space Cycle 's coaches guides you from the specially-designed platform: for 45 minutes, you follow a sequence of more or less fast rhythms, with more or less resistance, to work on both muscle strengthening and cardio, with some upper-body exercises thrown in for good measure! Sessions are open to all, beginners as well as regulars, and no one will hold it against you if you decide to pedal sitting down - rather than standing up - throughout the session: the aim is to let loose, have fun and get some exercise at the same time.
When you come to the studio, towels and cycling shoes are provided, so all you have to do is bring your sports kit and water bottle. You'll also find showers, lockers, hairdryers, hair straighteners and diffusers, shower gel... For a nice shower after your session. A trial session costs €29 (one class bought, one free for the first class), then €16 to €27 per session, depending on the membership you choose.
