In view of the Olympic Games, the festival calendar has been exceptionally shortened this year. It will take place over two weeks, rather than three as in previous editions, but still in theOrangerie du Parc de Bagatelle.
On June 22, the opening concert of the Chopin Festival in Paris sets the tone with the dazzling Ukrainian pianist Illia Ovcharenko. A tribute to youth and virtuosity continues the following day with a spotlight on seven young pianists playing works by Frédéric Chopin in a light-hearted atmosphere, with free admission from 2.30 pm to 7 pm: Mila Gostijanovic, Hyunhee Lee, Samuel Bismut, Sacha Morin, Antonin Bonnet, Yuki Kinouchi and Théotime Gillot.
Five candlelit concerts follow at 8:45pm. Rendezvous with Gaspard Dehaene (June 24), Arsenii Moon (July 1), Ingmar Lazar (July 2), Ismaël Margain (July 4) and a piano-cello duo with Sélim Mazari and Aurélien Pascal (July 5).
A partnership with Warsaw's Fryderyk Chopin Institute has enabled us to welcome two young Polish hopefuls in the " A recital, two pianists to discover" category: Eryk Parchański and Krzysztof Wierciński (July 6 at 4:30 pm).
Last but not least, there's an early fireworks finale on July 7, when Philippe Bianconi takes us on a last lap to the sounds of Chopin, Fauré, Liszt and Ravel at 5 p.m.!
