Les Foudres: the first awards ceremony dedicated to Metal

Following on from the traditional Victoires de la Musique and the Flammes ceremony dedicated to urban music, now comes the " Les Foudres " ceremony! Initiated by Paris Entertainment Company, which operates theAccor Arena, theAdidas Arena and the Bataclan, this event will reward " the talents of French Metal, whether they be artists, professionals, cultural players or even figures behind the scenes ", it is announced in a press release published on March 20, 2025.

For the moment, we don't yet know the detailed list of the various categories, or the artists and groups in the running. But we do know that the very first Foudres ceremony will take place in Paris this autumn. It will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Le Bataclan.

Billed as " a tribute to a vibrant and resilient culture ", the event will putMetal music in the spotlight. It has to be said that Metal culture is constantly attracting new followers. While Hellfest attracts large numbers of festival-goers to Clisson every summer, last year the Philharmonie de Paris devoted an exhibition to this long-marginalized musical genre. Concerts by metal bands also attract huge crowds. We're thinking of Metallica, Rammstein and AC/DC's latest shows in Paris.

France's metal scene also shines on a global scale. Proof of this is Gojira, who lit up the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and go on touring the four corners of the globe. Other French metal artists also appeal to metalheads' ears, including Mass Hysteria, Vestige, Alcest, Rise of the Northstar and Klone.

So, the first Foudres ceremony is an obvious choice. The event will be " a declaration of love to a passionate community, a tribute to its heritage and a showcase for its unique talents ", reads the press release.

While prizes will of course be awarded at the ceremony, Les Foudres will also feature a number of performances. " The evening promises to be an exciting mix of music, humor and spectacular happenings," it says.
