The Centre Pompidou, the museum to visit in 2018 and 2019? A must-see, no doubt, after taking a look at the exhibition program: Union des Artistes Modernes, Chagall and the Russian avant-garde, César retrospective, David Goldblatt exhibition... so many highlights for the coming year, and which ends in apotheosis with an exhibition around Cubism, one of the most important movements of modern art in the 20th century, from October 17, 2018 to February 25, 2019.
The idea? To show the " exchanges between its artists and their correspondents from the contemporary intellectual and social world " through the works of famous Cubists, such as Pablo Picasso, Francis Picabia, Robert Delaunay, Marcel Duchamp, Georges Braque, Henri Laurens, André Derain and Fernand Léger. A total of 300 works will be on display, arranged chronologically, with the aim of shedding light " for the general public on the key concepts, tools and procedures that ensured the movement's unity ".
These " defining works " and " significant series ", brought together for the first time in a single exhibition, also offer visitors the chance to delve into the " societal and historical dimensions " of the Cubist world, as well as to explore " the movement's sensitivity to modernity, the present and the future ", and dwell " on its kinship with symmetrical scientific and technical discoveries ". The exhibition will then travel to the Kunstmuseum Basel, partner of the event, between March and August 2019.
