The story does not say if he was a fan of Johnny Hallyday, yet his inspiration came from lighting a fire. Christian Jaccard is honored at the Centre Pompidou, which dedicates an exhibition to him from March 4 to May 25, 2020. Energies dissipées presents the artist's journey, motivated by two words: " knot " and " burn ". Discover the many works that Christian Jaccard has donated to the museum and that are on display for the first time.
" Fascinated and hypnotized by the eruption of flames, their unpredictable and dazzling dances, their energies released and then consumed and reduced to ashes," Christian Jaccard uses his childhood memories around a campfire to create and give life to his works. Slow or dazzling combustion, slow heat, works in homage to the eruption of Vesuvius, fire is a privileged tool in the art of Christian Jaccard.
The French visual artist is not only interested in fire. From his years as a scout, he has also retained the art of knots. The cords, the knots, the braiding, the folding, these are alltools that the artist uses and that form his unique trademark. As theexhibition progresses, we see the evolution of style: we go from paintings to "ephemeral paintings", films made outdoors, in deserted places.
