Queer art on show in the heart of Paris, a stone's throw from Beaubourg... The Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles de Paris is hosting the 3rd edition of the Prix Utopi.e with a group exhibition, from Friday September 13 to Saturday October 5, 2024. This event highlights 12 LGBTQIA+ artists whose works question societal norms and celebrate the diversity of gender identities and sexual orientations.
Organized by the Utopi.e association, this project stands out for its desire to give queer artists fair visibility. Since 2022, the Prix Utopi.e has brought together talented artists who use art to question heteronormative and cisgender models. Selected by a multidisciplinary committee, participating artists benefit not only from an exhibition of their work, but also from various opportunities such as artistic residencies, conferences and performances. This approach aims to"create caring spaces animated by transdisciplinary and performative programming from queer cultures".
This third edition of the Prix Utopi.e is enriched by a broader selection, featuring 12 artists with diverse approaches. Their works, which navigate between political discourse and varied artistic forms, tackle crucial themes such asinclusion and the fight against sex and gender discrimination.
With events that go beyond the mere exhibition - podcasts, readings and performances are also on the program - the Prix Utopi.e presents itself as a genuine platform for reflection and creation. Shall we drop by the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles?
