Just as the Tour Saint-Jacques is open to you on sunny days, the Panthéon is also a great way to see Paris from above. It's without doubt one of the most beautiful views of Paris that awaits you at the top of this historic monument. So, just so you know, it's around this dome that we climb.
The Panorama du Panthéon opens its doors to you every year from April 1 to October 31. To admire the view, you'll have to climb the 206 steps that take you through passages and places usually closed to the public. An exceptional journey awaits you. Note that there are no elevators, so if you have difficulty climbing steps, it's best to avoid them.
We first pass through a first terrace, which already reveals a grandiose view. This first, long landing allows us to overlook the top of the surrounding buildings, giving us a fine view of the central dome from the outside, whose ascent awaits us.
We've still got the last few flights of stairs to climb before reaching the colonnade, which offers a 360° view over the whole of Paris. For this last stage, please note that the stairs are rather steep, so if you suffer from vertigo, we don't recommend it.
That said, once you're at the top, the view is well worth the effort. From the Eiffel Tower to Notre-Dame Cathedral, from the Montparnasse Tower to the Georges Pompidou Centre, from the Institut du Monde Arabe to the Arc de Triomphe, you can admire the most beautiful monuments, as well as emblematic districts such as La Défense and its skyscrapers, Montmartre and the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, etc...
It's a true 360° view, as you can go all the way around the dome, under the colonnades.
Please note that the Panorama du Panthéon is open all day long. It is open from 10am to 4:30pm from April 1 to September 30, then from 10am to 4pm until October 31, 2024.
A visit to the panorama will cost you €3.5 on top of any entrance fee, which comes to €15 for a twin ticket that includes a visit to the Pantheon and the Crypt.
In other good news, admission to both the Panthéon and the panorama is free for under-18s (families and school groups excluded), 18-25 year-olds (European Union nationals and non-European legal residents in France), disabled people and their companions, jobseekers (on presentation of a certificate less than 6 months old) - Education Pass (valid for the current year).
Please note, however, that you'll need to go through the ticket office to obtain a compulsory counterfoil to gain access. This is not compulsory if you buy your free ticket directly online. Reservations are strongly recommended, as the number of seats is limited. Indeed, on weekends and busy days, you risk at best waiting 2 hours, at worst having no seats for the day. So plan ahead!
