The Théâtre National de Chaillot seemed to be at a loss when it came to catering. The former Théâtre National Populaire founded by Jean Vilar, which had seen the creation within its walls of the idea of "fast food" in theaters, enabling spectators to come directly from work to the theater, had not until now offered a very satisfactory service in this area.
Since November 2015, however, regular spectators had discovered a new formula in terms of catering. Maison Pradier, whose first patisserie was opened in 1859 at the Assemblée Nationale, took over the premises. In addition to a more upscale restaurant, the public could still enjoy a meal facing the Iron Lady, who, on show night, adorned herself in her illuminated gown.
Recently, it has also become possible to enjoy brunch on Sunday mornings, even when there is no show scheduled during the day. Brunch in front of the Eiffel Tower, ain't life grand?
The brunch menu, priced at €39, offers a wide choice of savoury dishes: various salads, crudités, potatoes, eggs, cold meats, fish..., but above all, sweet dishes. I say "above all", because it's the desserts from this Maison Pradier that have made its reputation.
On the all-you-can-eat buffet table, you'll find traditional but essential breads and viennoiseries, mille-feuilles, lemon pound cakes, various colorful tarts (strawberry, lemon, chocolate...), and above all, the chocolate éclair, shining under its golden leaves, superstar of the proposals, since it won the Best Eclair prize last year.
Drinks, tea or coffee, as much as you like, as well as various fruit juices served directly to the table.
A patisserie that's on the up and up, and one that's sure to be talked about, as we can also announce the opening of a new boutique in Saint-Michel and on the Place du Marché saint-Honoré, around the beginning of June.
