Located at the top of Boulevard du Temple, Café Canaille is THE friendly Parisian bistro you've come to expect: the owners, Guillaume Bonnet and his wife Alexia, welcome you every day in a typical Parisian bistro setting.
While all week long, Café Canaille is frequented by local restaurateurs and workers, who come in droves for the Canaille burger, vegetarian tagliatelle and entrecôtes, on Sundays, it's the locals (who stop off in a hurry during the week for their coffee) who take the time to enjoy the place!
On the menu that day, from 12pm to 4pm, two brunch buffet formulas are served at €23.50 and €32.50 : while both options offer a buffet of hot drinks, pastries (croissants, waffles, crepes), cold meats, savory tarts, cheeses and desserts (fruit salad, homemade tarts), a fruit juice or a glass of wine (your choice), they differ in the main course, a plate of scrambled eggs, pommes grenailles and sausages for one, and a Canaille burger for the other.
In the kitchen, Alexia is busy cooking for the 50 hungry tummies who come to sunbathe on the terrace, and it has to be said that the plates are copious! We liked the "canaille" version of hot chocolate (as thick as a chocolate fondant), to be drunk or eaten with a waffle, the plate of scrambled eggs and sausages to be enjoyed with a glass of wine, and the very reasonable prices for a very pleasant moment on a little-frequented Parisian thoroughfare!
PS: a private room is available at the back for groups of 10-15, complete with TV, convincing us that the Café Canaille is a great bistro!
