Nestled in the heart of the Bois de Boulogne, the Chalet des Îles reopened in spring 2024 after extensive renovation work. A traditional Swiss chalet presented by Napoleon III to his wife, Empress Eugénie, the chalet was dismantled and transported by rail from Switzerland to Paris in 1857, to be installed on one of the islands in the lower lake of the Bois de Boulogne. As well as offering a seasonal menu and refined cuisine throughout the week, this is where you'll find the local Sunday brunch every Sunday morning.
After walking (just a few minutes) along the Bois de Boulogne paths and taking the Canotière ( the river shuttle that takes you to the island), an all-you-can-eat buffet awaits you in the Chalet. What's on the menu? A buffet of crudités, seafood, cold meats... And don't forget the breakfast corner with its many pastries, freshly baked breads, etc.
Chalet des Îles also offers a salad bar, with a dozen or so options to choose from: rice, quinoa, tomato confit, boiled eggs, feta, mozzarella, artichoke hearts, hearts of palm, olives, and even mortadella, so you can create your own salad. Don't miss the barbecue stage, with butcher's cuts cooked to order: knife-grilled sausage, lamb, beef... Available according to availability. In winter, we also love the oyster and foie gras bar (holiday season only).
What remains is a magnificent dessert table, with something for everyone: creamy chocolate mousse, tiramisu, cheesecake, crème brûlée, brownies, fruit tarts and homemade whipped cream, cut or whole fruit... As an added bonus, every adult guest is offered a glass of champagne to get the day off to a good start. Coffee, tea and fruit juices are also available throughout the meal and included in the package.
The big plus is that the Chalet is relatively spacious, so it's ideal for couples looking for peace and quiet, while families with children also have their own space, without anyone being disturbed. For this high-quality (and gargantuan) all-you-can-eat brunch, expect to pay €75 per adult and €29 per child under 12, although the children's package entitles them to the same buffet as the adults. Every Sunday, a qualified hostess offers games, creative workshops and other activities for children throughout the brunch.
So, for a special event or a truly special brunch, head for Chalet des Îles and its Sunday brunch!
