Is there such a thing as a 20€ brunch near Ecole Militaire? The new Marcel et Compagnie restaurant, just off the 8 metro station, offers a gourmet break every Sunday (and public holidays) for 21€. On the menu, a large platter consisting of a hot drink accompanied by mini-viennoiseries, scrambled eggs and ham (or salmon suppl. 3€), a Caesar salad and, for dessert, a homemade fruit compote spread with French toast!
We have to tell you that the platter is top-notch, and for this price, while some people are content to make platters with no flavor, you can sense the work and research that went into the juice, the Caesar salad, the French toast and the compote with the bits of fruit that are still present. More than the brunch itself, the setting is really welcoming, with a large terrace andan indoor room with corners ideal for groups and tribes who get together on Sundays to decompress and take the time to read the papers...
The place is also famous for its 17.50€ burger, which is really good and hearty! And if any of the group are not up for brunch, the restaurant also serves dishes on request, including a zucchini risotto at 14€, ham and soft-boiled egg penne at 15€ and a salmon tartar at 14€, ideal for those hot days ahead!
