In Montmartre, Boulangerie Alexine is an institution. With its delicious classics and main creations, it seduces the butte locals as much as passersby. The baguette is excellent without speaking of the cakes and shortbreads: it’s a gourmet stopover you don’t want to miss in rue Lepic.

Alexine, the famous bakery with a light green façade is a must in Montmartre. Set in rue Lepic, you notice it as soon as you start climbing the butte. It’s simple, everything there is delicious and at reasonable prices. Of course, we have some special creations to share with you, creations you can’t anywhere else!

Renown for its know-how in “classic” bakery produces, Alexine was 4th in the contest for best baguette in Paris in 2016 and provides every day about forty restaurants and hotels set in the butte. Viennoiseries are light and deliciously buttery, breads are baked with label rouge CRC (controlled sustainable agriculture) flours and some flours used for special breads are organic such as spelt, flax seed spelt and meslin.

The baguette costs €0.95 and the half baguette, €0.50. Alexine offers to taste their signature breads such as the Tour de Main Fruits Secs, the occasion to discover new flavors.

Beyond classics, Alexine has a large collection of specialties. You absolutely have to taste their ficelles feuilletées. For €2.50 it’s a delicious and cheap lunch, not really balanced but oh-so good! They are available in several versions, all based on Emmental: tomatoes-olives-pesto-emmental or lardons-onions-emmental or blue cheese-walnuts-emmental and even bell peppers-chorizo-emmental. What a program!

If madeleines and cookies are just as delicious, you really shouldn’t miss the Diamant Vanille: a vanilla-sugar cookie absolutely divine. It’s not covered in egg yolk – like most traditional cookies – to be nice and golden. No, the Diamant Vanille is whiter, “crumblier” and melts in the mouth. It’s really a gustative experience you don’t want to miss!

For gourmet people who came as a group, cakes and pies can be taken away. And to feel like summer is not over yet, Alexine even has a Tarte Tropézienne.
