Opera and pastry lovers meet at Violetta et Alfredo, a tea room inspired by Giuseppe Verdi's famous work, La Traviata. The opportunity to enjoy the most musical Tea Time in Paris!

Take a trip back in time... That's what Violetta et Alfredo, a tea room in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, has to offer, with a range of intoxicating teas, desserts and pastries to die for. The establishment also offers savory brunch dishes to satisfy all gourmets and gourmands.

Why Violetta and Alfredo? This is a reference to Giuseppe Verdi's famous La Traviata and its two main characters, Violetta Valéry and Alfredo Germont. This was the intention of conductor Ivan Alvarez, who wanted to pay particular homage to the famous courtesan Marie Duplessis, lover ofAlexandre Dumas fils until he left her. A woman who undoubtedly inspired him for the character of Marguerite Gautier, heroine of one of his most famous works, La Dame aux Camélias, which later inspired Verdi for La Traviata.

A tea room that takes you straight back to Act II of Verdi's opera, to the lovely country house where Violetta and Alfredo settled down and fell in love. When it comes to delicacies, everything is inspired by the greatest operas: you can savor Swan Lake, a delicious chocolate and praline cake served with a meringue swan and custard; you can succumb to Roi Carotte, a carrot cake inspired by Offenbach's work; or The Nutcracker, a praline muffin with custard; or you can swoon over L'Opéra, the famous cake that needs no introduction. A wide selection of teas is also available, for a perfect Tea Time!

The editors had the chance to try out this tea room, and as opera fans, we loved it! We were tempted by Swan Lake, a delicious chocolate and praline cake, very light and delicate in the mouth, accompanied by China Sencha green tea , marigold flowers, rose petals, orange peel, cornflower flowers and bourbon vanilla. A real treat. A delicacy that tells a story, that of Tchaikovsky 's ballet, with a real lake in custard and a white swan in meringue and cream.

Beyond these delicacies, we particularly appreciate the porcelain service and the decor, worthy of a 19th-century literary salon. As a bonus, opera arias are played in the background for total immersion.

In short, an opportunity to escape for an afternoon or a lunch... Shall we go, friends?

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
