Alain Ducasse is bursting with ideas. Over the past decade, the chef has opened a coffee factory, a chocolate factory, an ice-cream factory , a cookie factory, a restaurant that celebrates plants, and most recently, a gourmet restaurant in the heart of the Baccarat Museum.
And it's far from over for the multi-starred chef, who has also undertaken to transform the Maison du Peuple in Clichy-la-Garenne into a temple of gastronomy, injecting nearly 30 million euros into the project after purchasing the premises for 2.1 million euros.
Work on this immense 4200-square-meter building in the Hauts-de-Seine (92) region began in early 2024. Listed as a Historical Monument, the Maison du Peuple de Clichy was built in the 1930s by architects Eugène Beaudouin and Marcel Lods, engineer Vladimir Bodiansky and the workshops of Jean Prouvé.
Constructed of glass and metal in a modernist architectural style, with movable floors, skylights, partitions and roof, the Maison du Peuple in Clichy-la-Garenne had been in a state of disrepair for over thirty years. Working with architects Perrot & Richard and designers Jouin Manku, the multi-starred chef plans to transform it into a "Villa Medici of international gastronomy."
Coming soon: a laboratory open to chefs from all over the world, chef Ducasse's various factories - whose products will of course be on sale - the group's head office, and a 60-cover bouillon where you can feast at lower cost. To be continued!
