In Paris, there are countless restaurants and some of them are very lucky – because of their success – to duplicate. It’s the case of the famous Les Pinces restaurant, set in the Marais for almost two years, and now enjoying a sibling on the other side of the Seine, rue Mazarine. This second table on the Left Bank provides the same concept: a simple yet effective menu: lobster available in all sizes and shapes or a big 500-g prime rib of beef à la plancha for meat eaters. The bonus here: its terrace to enjoy our crustacean friend in the sun!
Here, no golden spoon but a rather trendy and laid-back atmosphere: goodbye overrated lobster because of its luxury aura! At Les Pinces, the whole lobster costs €25 (baked or lobster roll) and can be enjoyed with fries, salad and a magnificent plastic bib – to make the experience even funnier and avoid the possible post-mortem attacks from the animal.
Against all odds, the main ingredient is perfect as a sandwich – made with love with tasty toasted bread and light mayonnaise. Substantial but perfectly seasoned and not sickening at all! It would be a shame to come to Les Pinces without tasting (or tasting again) the whole baked lobster coming from Canada – sometimes Brittany or America – then stored in the fish tank in the basement before ending up in our plates!
Perfectly cooked, the creature is such a delight! And from me to you, not a lot of lobsters can boast about flying in the airs before dying – don’t feel guilty then. Not really into a pincer massacre, our carnage buddy when for the huge piece of meat (raised in the open air) and is just as drooling.
To accompany our surf and turf feast, a cocktail to die for, based on gin, basil, lime and yellow lemon juices, sugar syrup and sparkling water and a delicious strawberry soup to end on a softer note.
Well, we definitely have a crush on this restaurant with a concept as arthropod as fantastic!
