Set in the neighborhood since 1993, Pipalottes, la table is first a local delicatessen with a few tables only. Since November, the place has got a new life thanks to Maximilien Dieupart and his wife, Carole who turned it into a local bistro with chef Thomas Cherbit and pastry chef Sarah Travier. Young Maximilien knows the address by heart since it was his father’s business.
In this brand-new setting with a modern décor that makes us forget about the Parisian life, Maximilien provides a bistro menu that highlights seasonal produces. Open every day, the address knows how to bring the entire neighborhood together over nice dishes that are sophisticated and well-plated and on Sunday, it’s unlimited brunch!
This fall, as a starter, you have creamy mushroom soup with ginger, truffled Stracciatella and blue lobster roll with yellow curry to enjoy with curry-poached cod and burnt leek, poultry supreme salad, beef cheek confit with celeriac and matured comté, without forgetting the famous truffled Coquilloto with smoked bacon, a dish to die for and that makes us forget about the cold!
We go for the wild mushroom soup, the Stracciatella and duck foie gras (the starter of the day). When starters arrive, we’re surprised by the beauty of the plates, perfectly plated and delicately tasting. For instance, the soup is served in a bowl covered in mushroom and a cookie. We’re later told that the chef and the pastry chef have been trained at Pré Catelan, it helps!
A few minutes after taking our empty plates away, it’s time to enjoy the main courses. We chose the curry-poached cod with burnt leek, the poultry supreme salad and the truffled coquillotto with smoked bacon. The cod is beautiful presented (we could have thought it was very smooth mashed potatoes) and the curry sauce is round in the mouth. As for the Coquillotto, it’s crazy and makes us forget about the cold, smooth and tasty!
After the main courses, even though we don’t feel very hungry anymore, we can’t deny Sarah Travier’s desserts presented on a tray. The Paris-Brest, the chestnut Pavlova, the chocolate rocher and the panna-cotta, we feel like the chef loves cream. They look delicious and are actually pretty light in the mouth and very flavorful!
By the way, her desserts are available at Pipalottes delicatessen, set about 50 meters from the restaurant so that you can grab some and make your friends or family enjoy them too.
Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
