How about a fine dining experience in Boulogne? Le Petit Comte is the name of this restaurant recently taken over by Julia and Julien Zanon, already at the helm of the Gemini Family establishments. The spot boasts an attractive outdoor terrace, a classic bistro façade and a surprisingly lush dining room hidden away inside, enough to accommodate a large number of guests and beautiful receptions.
The à la carte menu features seasonal à l'ardoise French cuisine . Here, tradition is the order of the day, and good food is the order of the day.
For starters, let yourself be seduced by thefricassee of green asparagus with balsamic and a delicious, well-seasoned fried soft-boiled egg. We also like the fish tartar with guacamole, preserved lemon and red pickles.
Main courses include filet, chicken supreme and cod with lemon. For our part, we opt for the excellent and generous dish of the day: roast veal quasi with morel mushroom sauce, served with white asparagus from the Loire Valley and homemade purée. Beautifully cooked, divine juices, we love it.
My sidekick chooses the unmissable Andouillette from the Association Amical des Amateurs d'Andouillettes Authentiques, accompanied by potatoes.
As for desserts, we're keeping with tradition with profiteroles, chocolate mousse, coupe colonel and the more than gourmet Ile flottante served in a copper casserole - enough to delight sweet tooths.
In short, if you're looking for a good bistro offering traditional French cuisine, this is the place.
