It's a gesture that very many Ile-de-France residents make every month or week: topping up their Navigo pass, while others have opted for the year-round pass. While the cost of the Navigo pass had not risen since 2017, with a fare of €75.20 (all zones), it has climbed by around ten euros in 2023 to reach €84.10, then €86.40 in 2024. And there's more to come, as the rate is set to rise again in 2025, according to Le Parisien!
In February 2022, the Cour des Comptes blamed Île-de-France Mobilités for a deficit of over 1.3 billion euros. After a particularly high contribution for users in 2023, Valérie Pécresse announced that she was looking for other players to charge, to avoid pushing the price of the Navigo above 100 euros. This time, the new increase will come very close, since based on the inflation rate of 2.8% for 2025, the fare will reach 88.80 euros per month!
While public transport in the Paris region is back to full speed after the good results of the Olympic Games, the monthly cost to users continues to soar, with an extra 2.40 euros per month, or 26.60 per year. The official fare will not be voted on until December, but according to the financial agreement between IDFM and the government, fares will continue to rise little by little until 2031. By then, we could be looking at the famous 100 euros...
A single Paris-Île-de-France transport ticket at €2.50 from January 2025
