Taking the metro is a habit for many Parisians who want to get around easily in Paris. While some lines will soon be extended (lines 14 and 11), others are seeing the arrival of more modern trains. This is particularly true of line 6 of the metro, where the famous MP73s are gradually saying goodbye.
Forty years ago, another piece of rolling stock on the Paris metro bowed out: the legendary Sprague-Thomson. It was on April 16, 1983 that these Paris Metro trains - considered the first of their kind - ran for the last time on line 9. To mark this anniversary, the RATP has announced an unusual and freeexhibition. On Sunday 16 April 2023, from 10am to 7pm, at Porte de Saint-Cloud station, come and experience a wonderful leap into the past!
During this tribute day, the public will be able to discover a Sprague-Thomson locomotive and trailer, the first generations of which were first put into circulation in 1908. Agents in period clothing will also be present to give you a unique experience.
To answer your questions, don't miss the visits organized with the lecturers of the ADEMAS association (association of exploitation of the Sprague material).

Other activities planned for that day? A concert by the Musiciens du Métro with the group TALES, who will be covering some of the best songs of the 1980s. Live performances are scheduled from 3 to 4 pm and from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.
To crown this day, the RATP announces the presence of a photobooth to immortalize this moment and the distribution of goodies!
For the record, the Sprague Thomson train was considered at the time as a modern and safe equipment with long metal bodies and powerful and robust engines. Between 1908 and 1937, nearly 2,800 cars of this type were built. Its characteristics? Green cars in second class with wooden benches, and red cars in first class with leather seats.
To discover these legendary Sprague-Thomson trains, meet on April 16, 2023 from 10 am to 7 pm at the Porte de Saint-Cloud station (line 9).
