A season eagerly awaited by many, and dreaded by others, summer is just around the corner. For many Parisians and Ile-de-France residents, summer is synonymous with vacations, but it's also a time when public transport in Paris and the Ile-de-France region is at its worst. It's at this time of year that work is most extensive.
And RER C is no exception. On its website, SNCF Réseau announces that it is continuing to modernize and renovate its infrastructure in order to " improve line reliability and guarantee your safety ". As a result, disruptions are expected on this famous RER line C for six weeks, from July 15 to August 26, 2023.
In detail, SNCF Réseau is announcing"Jet Grouting" work between Invalides and Pont de l'Alma. This technique will consolidate the structure by injecting a mixture of water and cement at high pressure. Between Invalides and Austerlitz stations, traffic will be disrupted by the replacement of rails, tracks and ballast. Between Saint-Michel Notre-Dame - which has just reopened - and Musée d'Orsay, the infrastructure will also be adapted to accommodate the new rolling stock this summer.
At Massy Palaiseau station, SNCF Réseau plans to replace the Chartres Gallardon bridge, while at Massy Valenton Ouest, work is scheduled to improve the south Paris rail bypass.
These multiple worksites are therefore not without consequences for passenger travel, and several partial interruptions to RER C traffic have been announced from July 15 to August 26, 2023.
During these six weeks, no RER C trains will be running between Paris Austerlitz <> Avenue Henri Martin, Paris Austerlitz <> Javel and Pont de Rungis <> Massy Palaiseau stations.
In concrete terms, stations located between Paris Austerlitz and Javel/Avenue Henri-Martin (Saint-Michel Notre Dame, Musée d'Orsay, Invalides, Pont de l'Alma, Champ de Mars, Avenue du Président Kennedy - Maison de Radio France, Boulainvilliers), as well asbetween Pont de Rungis and Massy-Palaiseau (Rungis La Fraternelle, Chemin d'Antony, Massy Verrières) will not be served and will be closed to passengers.
Paris Austerlitz, Avenue Henri Martin, Javel and Pont de Rungis stations will therefore be used as origin/terminus stations for trains from July 15 to August 26.
