Paris 2024 Olympics: The Pont Alexandre III, an iconic Olympic site over the Seine

Among the Olympic venues for the Paris 2024 Games, the Pont Alexandre III is a majestic monument that is preparing to host four Olympic and Paralympic events: the individual time trial finish in road cycling, marathon swimming, triathlon and para-triathlon.

This summer, the Olympic and Paralympic Games come to Paris. An opportunity for the City of Light to showcase its sublime heritage as the sporting events unfold. Indeed, several of the capital's historic monuments will be transformed into Olympic venues for the duration of this international event. So, in the run-up to the Paris 2024 Olympics, iconic spots in the capital will be the scene of strong emotional moments for spectators and athletes alike during this competition. The Pont Alexandre III, one of the capital's most beautiful bridges, overlooking the Seine in the 8th arrondissement, is one of the most emblematic spots in Paris.

This 152-meter-long bridge was inaugurated at the1900 Paris World's Fair (which also marked the launch of the Paris metro and the birth of the nearby Petit and Grand Palais ). Classified as a Historic Monument, it features a Beaux-Arts style, with columns topped by gilded statues and figures echoing Greek mythology. It features an emblematic Parisian scene and has been immortalized in numerous films and music videos.

For the Paris 2024 Olympics, this bridge linking two Olympic venues, the Grand Palais and Les Invalides, will itself be surrounded by grandstands from which spectators will be able to watch four Olympic and Paralympic events: thefinish of the individual time trial in road cycling, marathon swimming, triathlon and para-triathlon.
